Shop ForemanDetermine the priority of all work to be done by the shop and yard employees on a daily basis Making key decisions regarding all major repairs on equipment and ensuring that any warranty or customer damage issues are addressed and communicated to the Branch Manager Ensure that all necessary shop supplies are readily available for use Serving as a liaison between the shop and office on all equipment issues (i.e. breakdowns, customer damage, etc.) Perform and teach advanced troubleshooting / diagnoses and repair equipment Perform and teach repairs on gas and diesel engines, complex hydraulic systems, electrical systems and drive trains to include manual and power shift transmissions on equipment and trucks Perform and teach welding (electric arc ‘stick', gas welding and brazing). Inspect service and test equipment prior to tagging it "Ready to Rent" this includes checking the fuel and filling as needed Maintain all decals, safety warnings and company ID stickers Prepare accurate records on the maintenance and repair of equipment including field service paperwork Accurately order needed parts using part books and filling out requisitions. Fill propane tanks as requested May assist with the washing of equipment Maintain a neat and organized shop, especially personal work area, which includes putting away of all tools, clearing of all benches, and sweeping or mopping out the shop every evening May assist with general yard person duties including customer assistance May deliver or pick-up equipment to or from job sites as needed Maintain and ensure a safe working environment Report safety incidents/violations to Branch Manager Assist in training new mechanics, as requested by Branch Manager Maintain company vehicles Attend technical classes Attend all branch, shop and safety meetings Adhere to all company policies, procedures, rules and regulations in written or verbal form Must be able to meet performance, productivity and efficiency standards
The Shop Foreman's daily primary objective is to guide and direct all shop functions to ensure timely, accurate service and repair to the rental and delivery fleet. Prioritize and assign repairs of all "downed" equipment to ensure it is quickly brought back into service within company guidelines. The position also consists of performing regular preventative maintenance and major repairs, ensuring that all mechanics are properly filling out all paperwork completely and timely, monitoring part requisitions and expenses, training and guiding shop personnel. May provide feedback to the Branch Manager for individual performance evaluations and be a part of the meeting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Previous shop and service management is preferred Mechanical knowledge of construction equipment preferred Must possess leadership and organizational skills Must possess customer relation skills Must possess welding skills (electric arc ‘stick', gas welding and brazing) Must possess multi-tasking abilities Must be detail orientated Must have legible handwriting Must maintain a professional personal appearance Ability to use mathematics to solve problems Must be able to communicate in English. Ability to speak another language is a plus Keep regular, timely and dependable attendance Maintain a cooperative working relationship with co-workers A high school diploma or equivalent GED is preferred but not required Be able to frequently lift 25 lbs., occasionally lift 50 lbs., and seldom lift 90 lbs. Must be able to grasp and apply new information quickly Must have unrestricted driver's license Possession and maintenance of a good driving record preferred Must have a full range of motion and dexterity to frequently climb in and out equipment
